Bone cement is use to fix an implant to a bone. The conduct of clinical studies and laboratory experiments for fixing implants such as the components of replacing joint protheses by selfcuring polymethylmethacrylate. Before the implant insertion, in attaining a better result the cement application should be under pressure. There are two principal effects of pressure. First, to improve the quality and strength of the bone cement material and since it is important that the cement should penetrate the interstices of a bone structure, the pressure helps develop the quality and strength of the interlocking capacity of the cement and the bone, making these results more desirable.
Many inventions were done in the attempt to carry out such desirable results. Thus, pave the way for the present invention to provide an improved device for such procedure. An apparatus designed to bring pressure to the cement with a nozzle and aperture on its end fit to seal the cavity. Through this, surgical procedure made easy which facilitates application and control of cement volume.
A cement gun is a seal device with a nozzle and aperture in its end fit to seal the opening of a bone cavity. The device may consist of an inflatable and expandable baloon, or a solid body of conformable use to push or put pressure to the cement to be applied. The advantage of bone cement gun helps in pressuring and proper dispensing of cement.
Latest innovation of cement gun or now known as Paste Injector Gun, composed of first and second mechanical advantages corresponding to different portions of the trigger stroke. The first mechanical advantage facilitates in pressurizing the bone cement and the second facilitates quantity of volume dispensing of the bone cement out of the nozzle.
These mechanical advantages provide a trigger mechanism with a trigger lever that is pivotal connected to a drive plate at the output end. The trigger mechanism includes two fulcrums that provide two sequential centers of rotation. As the trigger of the first fulcrum is squeeze, the output end of the trigger lever closes resulting to a high mechanical advantage that enables cement pressurization. At the second stage of trigger travel, the trigger lever pivots at the second fulcrum resulting to a higher flow volume since the second pivot point is farther from the output end of the trigger lever.
This is the type of a cement gun has no screws or switches that must be adjusted to change the mechanical advantage. The two mechanical advantages were design to squeeze its trigger. The first portion of the trigger stroke produces high pressure and the second portion of the trigger stroke produces high flow volume. If high flow is desire, full strokes are use. If high pressure is desire, short strokes are use. The injector gun of accept a small cement cartridge. The present invention also includes a pair of U-shaped slots for gripping bone cement contains cartridge. One of the slots is size to accept a large cement cartridge. The other slot is size to small cement cartridge.
